Anacortes Public Library is a Family Place Library

Anacortes Public Library is a Family Place Library, a national network of libraries that provide a welcoming community environment with resources to help families nurture their children’s development and early learning. There are two aspects to being a Family Place Library.

Early Learning Play Space in the Library

A fun, welcoming environment where children can play, explore books, toys, and other interactive materials with their caregivers whenever the library is open.

  • A place to meet other families and make new friends.
  • Toys such as the train table, play kitchen, dress-up station, magnet board, blocks, and more.
  • Programs for toddler and preschoolers.

Play and Learn Series

This free three-week series of classes is for toddlers and their parent/caregiver. The classes are totally play-based with activities for children and adults to explore together, lots of fun and engaging toys, and a weekly sensory station. Each week there will be a community professional there to answer questions you might have on topics including early literacy, speech and language, child development, and nutrition.

The spring Play and Learn series will be held on Tuesdays, April 25th, May 2nd, and May 9th from 10:00am to 11:30am in the Community Meeting Room. The classes are free, but registration is required and space is limited. We know life is busy, but we ask families to commit to attending at least two sessions. Please let us know which sessions you will be able to attend. To sign-up complete the form linked below or call the Children’s Library at 360-293-1910 ext. 3982. You can also stop by to ask questions or pick up a flyer.

The Play and Learn Series is a great opportunity to play together, meet new friends, and learn something new! We hope you’ll join us.

Registration is full. Sign up for our newsletter to see updates on our Fall session.
