What Online Databases Are
Online library databases are web subscription resources that are available through the internet. They contain some of the most reliable information in existence. The Anacortes Library subscribes to several for our patrons.
What the Databases Contain
Multi-disciplinary databases provides full text for thousands of journals, including full text peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for over hundreds of journals, and searchable cited references for more than thousands of titles.
Scholarly Information
To put it simply, when your teacher/professor asks you to write a research paper, these are the resources you'll need. Or, if you want to read an article in Rolling Stone or Consumer Reports, databases are where you'll access those resources.
Practical Information
Beyond that, the library's databases provide information on how to fix your car, marine engine, or lawn mower. Library databases help you find out what to read next (Novelist) or provide reliable Biography information that goes beyond Wikipedia.
Requirements
14-digit library number may be required.
