Summer Reading 2018 – June 1st to August 31st 

Summer is a great time to read, explore, and learn and Summer Reading is for kids of all ages!


Getting started is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1.  Children of all ages start by signing up HERE or register the next time you visit the library.

2.  Find your age group below to download a Bingo/Reading Log Sheet.

3.  Start reading and have fun!

Look at our Summer Calendar to see all the performers, programs and activities you can explore!

Kids ages birth to 5:

  • Print out or pick up a Pre-Reader Bingo sheet.
  • Complete one row or many! Bring your Pre-Reader Bingo sheet to the library for your prize book between August 1st – 31st.

Kids entering grades K - 5:

  • Print out  or pick up an Elementary Reading Log.
  • Keep track of your reading by coloring a box for every 20 minutes you read.
  • Read 400 minutes and bring your Elementary Reading Log to the library for a Half-Way Prize – a Music Activity Pack starting July 9th.
  • Read 800 minutes and bring your Elementary Reading Log to the library to choose a prize book & Super Reader sign.

Teens entering grades 6 - 12:

  • Print out  or pick up a Teen Bingo sheet.
  • Set a reading goal for yourself and start reading!
  • When you reach your goal bring your Bingo card to the library for your choice of a book or gift card to Watermark Books.

All prize books are available August 1st to 31st. All finishers will also be entered into the Summer Reading Grand Prize Drawing for their age group. Prize drawings will be held on September 5th

Tuesday June 19th - 1:00 PM at the Heart of Anacortes (corner of 4th and O Ave). Join us for juggling and jokes with local performers Wren and Della as they delight us with their circus skills!

Idea Hatch - Steam Event

Monday June 25th - 1:00 PM at the Heart of Anacortes (corner of 4th and O Ave). Educator/Librarian Heidi Larson brings her STEAM program designed to stimulate your child's musical interest. Make music with a wind tunnel! Experience a musical bench! Make music with mad marble runs, and PVC pipe instruments.  Ages 5-12.

Ray Soriano - Drumming

Tuesday July 10th - 1:00 PM at the Heart of Anacortes (corner of 4th and O Ave). Come drum with us! Ray Soriano is an early childhood educator and has shared his passion for drumming with kids and adults for over 10 years.  Ray's approach emphasized fun and inclusion.


Tim Noah - CTim Noahhildren's Performer

Tuesday July 24th - 1:00 PM at the Heart of Anacortes (corner of 4th and O Ave). Join us for fun music with Tim Noah, award-winning songwriter, singer, and children's entertainer from Seattle.

Tuesday July 31st - 1:00 PM at the Heart of Anacortes (corner of 4th and O Ave). Join us for a family dance party with local DJ Mike Jenkins! Bring your best moves and get ready to have some fun.
