Music from Library's Manieri Collection

The Anacortes Museum is happy to team up with the Anacortes Public Library to play authentic music from the Great Depression era using CDs from the Manieri Collection that were popular during the 1930s. With modern speakers hidden behind a vintage Wards Airline Radio, the songs seem to emanate from a bygone broadcast. Museums can sometimes be too quiet, and visitors are hesitant to comment amongst themselves. Perhaps they sense the historical presence of Librarian Howard shushing patrons in the early days of the Carnegie Library.

The music provides an audio link to the artifacts and photographs on display, and frees up conversation, all adding to the experience of our All in the Same Boat: Anacortes in the Great Depression exhibit.
