The Anacortes City Council appointed Carolyn Moulton to fill the council seat previously held by Liz Lovelett, which became vacant following her appointment to the Washington State Senate.
Moulton, owner of Bikespot, a local bicycle shop, was chosen following a selection process conducted by the City Council.
“The Council appointed Carolyn after a very thorough process. As a small business owner, Carolyn brings to the Council an important perspective. She has a deep understanding of our community and is ready to serve,” said Mayor Laurie Gere.
In addition to owning her own business, Carolyn is active with the Anacortes Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee and sits on the Anacortes Community Forest Land Advisory and Anacortes Parks Foundation Boards.
“My highest priority as Councilmember will be maintaining our City's vibrant character while continuing to develop the infrastructure and support services (including our municipal broadband project and future community youth center) that are vital to the ongoing health of our community,” said Moulton.
Moulton’s appointment will remain in effect until the November 2019 election results are certified. Per RCW 29A. 24.271, since Councilmember Lovelett’s resignation occurred prior to the May 13, 2019 regular filing period deadline for the November 2019 general election, a special election will be held for this position.
