  1. Diverse Shores Bike Tour

    September 19, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Join us on your bike next Thursday the 19th, from 6:00-7:30 for an interactive bike tour with Bikespot. Diverse Shores: Multicultural Histories Along Anacortes’ Cannery Row explores sites in downtown Anacortes that hosted the diverse communities that came together, at points in harmony, and at other points in discord, to work the fishing and canning trades of Fidalgo Island. This hour and a half tour does not provide a comprehensive immigration story to Fidalgo, but instead shares location based stories that offer perspective onto the experience of Chinese, Japanese, Coast Salish, Croatian, Scandinavian, Filipino, and other workers in the fishing industry of Anacortes from the 1890s-1940s. This tour is free, but reservations are required! Email Weather is supposed to be clear for Thursday, but in case of rain, there will be a presentation at the Anacortes Museum.
